when it rains

this is the capstone-exclusive first look at my ep, when it rains. here, you will find album art concepts and early access to one of my tracks.

idea

this is the first version of the ep art. i needed a concept that worked in my brain, but i didn't want to sit down and hand-draw elements. i also didn't want to take new photos, as i had captured a few photos over the summer, and i was really set on incorporating them.

first iteration

this is the first iteration of any "official" ep art. i incorporated hand-drawn elements (the flowers bordering the text), and i also incorporated the raindrop from the concept art. in place of having my artist name added onto the art in a font i don't like, i opted to handwrite my signature and turn it into a png with a transparent background.

second iteration

this iteration of the art includes a photo that i took on my front porch over the summer when it actually happened to be raining. in a very very early version of the ep art, i flipped the photo upside-down and i really liked it, so i tried that here, and i removed the sky from the photo. the yellow background sort of makes the sky look like it is hazy.

third iteration

this iteration of the art only exists because i was a little bit afraid that i was being overly moody by flipping the photo upside-down. what i like most about this iteration is that reducing the contrast of the photo and flipping it to its original orientation makes the title pop in a way that i had never envisioned.

track two - i think about june

i think about june places the listener at the end of june, marking the beginning of my summer; a time at which i was reflecting on the summer prior and how i could have spent it in a more fulfilling way.
